FREE Access to South Africa’s National Parks This September!


There’s nothing quite like pointing the vehicle towards the bush, grabbing the binoculars and knowing that a day of wildlife and adventure lies ahead. This September, South Africans have a great reason to do exactly that.


SA National Parks Week runs from 7–13 September 2026, offering South African citizens free day access to participating SANParks destinations. 🇿🇦🐘


It’s the perfect opportunity to get the family outdoors, explore somewhere new and experience the incredible wildlife and landscapes that make South Africa so special.


Pack the Cooler Box and Hit the Road


Whether you’re hoping to spot elephants, rhino, giraffe and big cats, or simply want to spend a day surrounded by nature, National Parks Week is a fantastic excuse to explore.


At KhakiBush, we believe you don’t always need an expensive safari to experience Africa. Sometimes all you need is a full tank of fuel, a packed lunch, a camera and a little time.


The initiative is also about more than free entry. Getting people into our national parks helps build a stronger connection with conservation and reminds us that these wild spaces belong to all of us.



Check the Dates Before You Go


Free access applies to South African day visitors, with a valid South African ID required. Children under 18 do not need to provide identification.


There are also some differences between parks. Kruger, West Coast and Augrabies Falls National Parks will offer free access from 7–11 September, while other participating parks will run the initiative through to 13 September.


Remember that accommodation, guided activities, game drives and certain attractions are not included in the free-entry offer.


So, before you head off, check the specific conditions and dates for your chosen park.



Make It an Adventure


Why not choose a national park you’ve never visited before?


Take the kids. Teach them about wildlife. Stop at the viewpoints. Watch the birds. Take photographs. And most importantly, slow down and enjoy being outside.


Those experiences are often where a lifelong love for Africa and conservation begins.
