Suzuki Across: Suzuki’s New Flagship SUV Coming Soon to South Africa


Exciting news for SUV enthusiasts in South Africa! In 2026, Suzuki South Africa is set to expand its local SUV lineup with the highly anticipated Suzuki Across. While the official launch date is yet to be confirmed, Suzuki has revealed that this sleek, compact SUV is “coming soon” and will sit above the Grand Vitara as the brand’s flagship model.


Known as the Victoris in India, the Across is produced at Maruti Suzuki’s factory in Kharkhoda, Haryana. Locally, it will offer a step up in size and presence compared to the Grand Vitara. Measuring 4,360 mm in length and 1,655 mm in height, the Across is both longer and taller than the Grand Vitara, although it shares the same width (1,795 mm) and wheelbase (2,600 mm).


Features and Technology


The Across promises a tech-forward experience for drivers and passengers alike. In other markets like the UK, it comes in GL and GLX trims, which may give us an idea of what to expect locally. Standard features in the GL spec include:


  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

  • Six-speaker sound system

  • Rear-view camera

  • Keyless entry and start


The higher GLX trim takes things further with premium upgrades, such as:

Powertrain and Performance


While local specifications are still under wraps, the Across is expected to feature Suzuki’s 1.5-litre K15C Dualjet petrol engine paired with 12V SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology. This mild-hybrid setup produces 76 kW of power and 139 N·m of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, with the automatic model available in either front-wheel drive or AllGrip Select all-wheel drive.
